New Orleans - January 2012

This is the first trip I've taken in the last few years without my SLR :( The Rebel quit on me at Oktoberfest in National Harbor last year, so I've been carrying the SX10 while I save up for a new Canon body. While I missed the fine control of the SLR, I do love the optical zoom on this camera!

Anyway. Family vacation to New Orleans in January 2012! Only my family would plan their vacation for the middle of winter. It worked out well, since the city was gearing up for Mardi Gras and it wasn't the least bit crowded. We mostly subsisted on coffee.

Somehow, photos of my trip to Rome in May of 2010 didn't make it onto this blog. I'm going to rectify that lapse right...now:

A place I love.

I lived in Richmond for five years while I attended VCU. That's a fair chunk of my life thus far, and there are times when I miss the city and atmosphere unbearably. Then again, that might just be nostalgia vision since I can clearly recall raging about the driving conditions and cost of living. In any case, it's times like these that I'm glad I had the presence of mind to take tons of photos during college.
